National Portfolio Days is an important event set on a specific date across important parts of the U.S. and Canada for American art colleges and universities to evaluate students' works. On this day, the admission officer from various colleges and universities will directly observe and evaluate the works of the students’, recommend scholarship in some circumstances. Participating students must have at least twelve possible works and a level of English that allows them to directly explain and discuss the work. New York event has the largest and most participating schools for the last 20 years.

 

네셔널 포트폴리오 데이는 미국의 유명 미술대학 및 종합대학들이 일정한 날짜를 정하여 미국 전역 및 캐나다 등 중요한 지역을 함께 돌며 학생들의 작품을 평가하는 중요한 이벤트이다. 이날은 대학의 입학사정관이 직접 참관하며 학생들의 작품에 대하여 평가, 체점 및 장학금 추천도 경우에 따라 하게된다. 참가하는 학생들은 가능한 작품 12개 이상 그리고 작품에 대하여 직접 설명 및 토론할수 있는 영어 수준을 갖추여야 한다. 20년 넘게 한번도 빠지지 않고 뉴욕 이벤트에 참가를 하는데 가장 규모가 크고 참가 학교가 많다.

최근에 들어서 한국학생들의 참가는 과거에 비하여 많이 떨어지고 있다. 고등학교 시니어 경우는 힘들게 준비한 작품을 직접 면담을 통하여 입시 담당자로 부터 어드바이스를 통하여 수정, 보안 등도 할수있고 경우에 따라 입학 사정관과 지속적으로 연락을 함으로서 마지막 지원전까지 보다 완벽하게 준비할수있는 장점이 있다. 대부분의 미국 학생들은 학교 단체를 통하여 참가고 하고 있으며 고등학교까지 직접 담당자가 탐방하는 경우도 있다. 미국이 아닌 다른지역에서 준비할경우는 이런한 공개적인 자리가 부족하기도 하고 간혹 학원이나 단체에서 참가를 권유하지 않는데 그것은 혹시라도 나올수 있는 단점에 대한 논평 때문일수도 있다. 그러나 이런 이벤트는 자기 작품에 대한 평가뿐만아니고 앞으로 남은시간동안 어떻게 준비할지에 대한 아이디어를 얻을수있으므로 가능한 참가를 추천한다.
